Press Release

Christie at ‘KINO EXPO’ 2010

KINO EXPO / St. Petersburg, Russia (27th September 2010)  – Christie® has continued in its role as the official digital cinema partner at the 12th annual International Convention and Trade Fair “KINO EXPO”.  The professional forum of the cinema industry of Russia, the CIS and the Baltic states was held from the 20th until the 24th of September in Lenexpo, St. Petersburg, Russia.

"Christie is a world leader in digital cinema projection and is proud to support one of the major events of the Russian cinema business and technologies", says Adil Zerouali, regional director at Christie Digital Systems in Eastern Europe,

And Christie's long time partner Nevafilm also returned as the general partner for cinema technologies to the International Convention and Trade Fair, providing technical support for all digital film screenings, 2D and 3D.

Earlier this year Christie began shipping its next generation of Christie cinema projectors the Solaria range of 2K and 4K-ready digital cinema projectors. Shortly after, Christie was the first to pass full DCI compliancy testing for its CP2220 and last week made the world's first public presentation of 4K DLP Cinema technology when it show cased a CP4230 to audiences at the International Broadcast Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam.

Today there are 14000 digital cinema installations all over the world, more than 2000 of which are 4K-ready solutions – and  together account for 65% share of digital cinema projectors installed.

“I would like to put special emphasis on the success of our mutually beneficial cooperation with Christie Digital Systems, who has been our partner and one of the major sponsors of the Convention and Fair for the last six years”,  says Dmitry Kazuto, the director of the International Convention and Fair “KINO EXPO”.  “Joint work with Christie’s professional team and their Russian partners has brought about a real breakthrough in digital cinema in Russia”.

During the trade fair, Christie showcased a photographic gallery of some of the many cinema installations completed with Christie digital cinema systems and the care and support of Christie's partner network in Russia; amongst them Asia Cinema, Kinoproekt Ltd. and Nevafilm.

Christie’s booth also featured their latest digital display modules Christie MicroTiles™, recipient of a number of high profile innovation and product design awards since its introduction earlier in the year. MicroTiles are purpose-built for digital signage and modular display applications in architectural, conference, event and retail applications and by extension cinema lobbies and multiplexes.
