Madrid, 2nd December 2010.- Christie®, world leader in cinema projection systems and digital display solutions, won the “Best AV Solution” prize at the Producción Profesional Awards for its Christie MicroTiles™ modular digital display solution. The prize-giving ceremony, attended by over 500 guests, took place in the South Auditorium at the IFEMA exhibition centre in Madrid.
The Producción Profesional Awards, sponsored by the specialist media and AV magazine of the same name published by Editorial Bolina, were created to recognise groundbreaking technological and human contributions to audiovisual media. After eight events so far, they are now widely viewed as Spain’s most important awards of their kind. They are also a dynamic incentive for the audiovisual industry, furthering the promotion of cutting-edge technologies in Spain and abroad.
After careful deliberation, the Producción Profesional editorial broad selected five nominees for each category, after which readers were given a one-month period to vote on the magazine’s website. The top three most-voted in each category were then presented to a jury of renowned independent professionals who decided the winners in a notarised secret ballot.
Antonio Abad, head of Christie for Spain and Portugal, collected the statuette on behalf of Christie. “We are really proud to have won this prize,” he said. “It adds to the many awards Christie® MicroTiles™ has received since it was launched. To be honest, this comes as no surprise considering the huge success of a product which is revolutionising the market. Christie is fully committed with innovation and we’ll continue to offer our customers unique creative products.”
In Spain, Christie MicroTiles has ushered in a whole new era in TV studios. Channel Cuatro’s primetime programme El Hormiguero has equipped its set with a screen made up of 45 MicroTiles. The successful afternoon show on the same channel, Tonterías las justas, has a display with 50 MicroTiles. Another TV station, Antena 3, has installed 150 MicroTiles on the set of its programme El Marco. In turn, Telemadrid’s programme El Círculo is using a 24 MicroTiles videowall.
Christie MicroTiles are modular, digital display tiles that can be stacked and clustered like building blocks to create a digital canvas of any size, any shape and in any space. The groundbreaking LED- and DLP®-based system is a huge step forward in large-format digital display technology, offering superior colour and image reproduction, with a screen resolution (less than 0.5mm between pixels) that is unique in the market.
