(Madrid, Spain) 22 November 2011 – Christie®, a global visual technology company, is pleased to announce the opening of a Spanish branch in Madrid. The new office is a logical step forward for Christie in Spain and an important milestone in Christie’s service for its clients, Partners and business in Spain and Portugal.

Christie’s new office is located in Boadilla del Monte, a town just 14.5 kilometres outside  Madrid, and right next to Ciudad de la Imagen, an office and audiovisual leisure complex which is home to many TV channels, audiovisual producers, multiplexes, postproduction companies, film schools, audiovisual industry associations and film archives.

With a total surface area of 500 square metres, the new branch hosts a large showroom displaying Christie’s latest technologies and products, including projectors and videowalls. It also has several rooms set aside for staging live demos, commercial meetings, seminars and training courses, plus a space dedicated to technical services. This new facility is  also available to Christie’s clients and Partners for their own use.

Christie’s Iberic branch will be headed by Marcos Fernández, Christie’s new Country Sales Manager for Spain and Portugal. “It was time for Christie to have its own office in Spain, a truly dynamic region for Christie in EMEA. This follows years of successful brand development through Antonio Abad’s Independent Consultant office.” says Fernández. “At this time of global economic uncertainty, seeing a world leader in visual solutions investing on staff and infrastructure is a great testimonial of Christie’s commitment and trust towards the Spanish market and its dynamic economy. ”, he added.

Over the last four years, Christie’s business in Spain and Portugal experienced a 400% increase, despite the economic climate. Some of Christie’s latest most significant work in Spain include: Banco Santander’s financial centre; Antena 3’s news studio; hundreds of Christie® MicroTiles™ implemented in a whole range of TV programmes (El Hormiguero, Tonterías las justas, El Círculo, Telemadrid ...), businesses, control rooms as well as in the rental sector for events; supply of high-powered equipment to Spain and Portugal’s main rental agents; and the installation of hundreds of digital film projectors for major cinema chains (Yelmo Cines, Cinesur, Filmax, Cines Verdi…) and postproduction companies (Molinare, Telson...).

Christie has an extensive network of partners in Spain who distribute Christie’s equipment all over the region. In the entertainment industry, Partner Kelonik act as a certified Service Provider while Sercine is a Certified Partner, offering services and support for Christie’s DLP Cinema® products.

With the opening of the new Spanish office, Christie will be in a prime position to take full advantage of the expected rejuvenation of the audiovisual sector which, “can already be seen in some specific projects.” concludes Marcos Fernández.
